Umanagea’s Living Nature System

We work from the outside in: we bring nature into our very core so that we can recognise and let go of what separates us from it, and from there live, express and share our inner nature.

That is the Living Nature system: a set of disciplines that bring together presence, science, creativity and symbolism, interwoven with the rhythm of the seasons. Forest Bathing — the Japanese Shinrin-Yoku — is one such practice: the most widely studied, but not the only one. At Umanagea, it's a gateway to a broader path.

Part of a school of Human Ecology

Drawing to feel

Umanagea is one of the three sister schools of Holística Nature, the school of human ecology born in the Sierra de Aracena. We share the same premise: a person's health and the health of the land are part of the same process, and we can learn to inhabit it.

From Holística Nature, we have inherited scientific rigour, a contemplative outlook and a strong connection to a specific place — the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Umanagea brings its own system to put all of this into practice.
